New Year, Same Stress: How To Handle Your 2012 Goals

Tips on achieving your goals in 2012.

The holidays are over, and the gifts have been opened and the tree taken down. It is the last day of the year, with a new one just in sight. You tell yourself one of your resolutions is to stress less in the coming year. Sticking to that resolution is easier then you think. Just use these tips below to make your new year a little less stressful, and a lot happier.

Budget Your Money

We all know too well what the holiday season does to our wallets. During this magical time of year, our money seems to vanish right before our eyes as we are out buying the perfect presents for our friends and family members. Vow to start fresh in 2011! Take advantage of today’s modern technology. Via the internet and your smart phone are amazingly powerful budgeting and money management tools to help you onto the right track of saving money in 2012.

One more way to ease the strain on your pocketbook during 2012 is to start putting a little bit of money away each month, whether it is in a special bank account, or an envelope in your home. Make this your “Christmas Club” money, if you will. Only use this money to purchase holiday related items. Whether they are gifts, decorations, holiday food, or any other holiday propaganda. Allotting your money this way also can ease the strain on your credit card bills, so you do not have to max out those cards to make it a happy holiday.

Weight Loss Goals

At some point or another in our lives, we have all probably made a new year’s resolution to lose weight. If only the way that our wallets got skinnier this time of year, would work for our waistlines in the New Year! In 2012, try a new way of going after your goals. Little steps that lead up to a larger goal. For instance, instead of just saying “I am going to lose that extra fifty pounds”, start with a smaller number. Try starting out with ten or fifteen, and when you hit that goal of losing those pounds, remember to reward yourself, give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it! Soon enough all of those little numbers you have been checking off that weight loss goal, will add up to a big success and a smaller waistline.

Make Time for Yourself

This one thing is of extreme importance. Our lives are so day-to-day and mundane that we fail to realize that the days somewhat just melt into one another and become a huge blur. Rarely do we take the time we need for ourselves to unwind, just sit, and think. This year, find something that you like to do, a hobby perhaps. Try to take at least five minutes a day doing something you love. Even if it is after everyone goes to bed, and you are still awake, just sit in bed and think, reflect on your day. What made you happy today? Think about the positives and let go of the negatives. By taking these tips and making little changes, you’ll soon find yourself having a wonderful and prosperous new year.
